As one of the best and most versatile types of powersports vehicle out there, UTVs (utility terrain vehicles) are popular with both professional workers and recreational off-roaders alike. It’s important to think about what it is you need in a UTV before you buy one, though, and this guide should help with that.

Size

First, think about how large the UTV needs to be in order to carry all your passengers and their cargo. If you’re going to use it by yourself or with one other person, you only need two seats, but a family or crew of workers will require a UTV with four or six seats. You can also determine whether you need a UTV with a larger towing capacity, which will likely require a bigger vehicle.

Features

UTVs can have many different types of features, including canopies, windshields, half-doors, cargo bays, and sound systems. Think about what types of features you want so that you can find a model that’s suitable for you and your passengers.

Purpose

Finally, it’s a good idea to think about how you intend to use your UTV. While most models are good for either work or play riding purposes, some are more suited to work and heavy hauling, while others are more suitable for off-road trails and mudding.
