A Quick Motorcycle Buying Guide for New Owners
There’s nothing quite like shopping for your first motorcycle, but it’s also easy to get overwhelmed. With so many great manufacturers to choose from, it’s just a matter of doing your homework. Keep an open mind as you do your research online, and be sure that you know how much that you have to spend. A salesman at a dealership will always be happy to help you find a way to finance a bike that you can’t really afford, but you’re going to have a lot more fun riding your bike if you don’t stress out about making your monthly payments! Here’s a look at some of the most popular types of motorcycles that you have to choose from. To learn more and to take a test ride, come see us at J&B Cycle & Marine in Timmins, Ontario. We serve riders throughout the province of Ontario.
Standard Bike
A standard motorcycle is a great option for a beginner. They typically allow you to sit in an upright riding posture, and they don’t have all the bells and whistles like fancier bikes. A standard bike is a great first bike to learn on and figure out what you want when it’s time for you to make an upgrade!
Cruisers
A cruiser is a larger bike with a bigger engine and plenty of attitude. You’ll usually sit in a more relaxed and reclined riding position as you enjoy the rumble of the V-twin engine underneath you. Cruisers have good suspensions, and there’s not a better option for those days when you want to kick back with your boots on the foot pegs and enjoy a nice weekend ride.
Touring Motorcycles
If you’re getting ready for a cross-country motorcycle vacation, a touring bike is the perfect luxury vehicle for your trip. A touring bike has a large powerful engine, plenty of fairings to block the wind, large fuel tanks and large compartments to store your gear. You can always take your touring bike on your morning commute if you don’t mind paying for the gas, but don’t expect to easily zip through gridlock as easily as you can on a smaller bike.
Sportbikes
If you have the need for speed, look no further than sportbikes. They have large powerful engines, aerodynamic fairings, and a forward riding posture. Sportbikes don’t offer nearly as comfortable of a ride as other types of bikes, but that’s not the reason that people ride them!
